No book or website will help you.
Go to your local social security office and they will fill out everything for you the right way.
The only official U.S. government grant web site is http://www.grants.gov but you will see that you won’t find anything for individuals, especially not for starting a business. If you want to find how to start and fund your business (via loans) see the Small Business Administration web site at http://www.sba.gov
Some of the online grant sites are scams. There are a few that are valid and in fact do help you. You just have to realize that none of them guarantee you loans . These programs primarily streamline the process for you and give you the tools and information you need to find the loans you are eligible for and what you need to do to apply for them and improve your chances for success in receiving the loans.
Here’s a good site that breaks down the ones that work.
http://TopGrantPrograms.com
this is suppose to be a good place
Try here

or hit up google and look for .gov sites.
i recently found a pretty good site that helped me sort out the same problems you found for yourself with. the site narrows it down to the 3 best grant offers and recommends you apply for all 3 to see what loans you get approved for and etc. check my source box for the site. anyways, hope this helps. alex.
