This is a raw video, I just wanted to get it on the internet so excuse the shoddy camera work. Early Sunday morning, police arrested between 150-200 (approx.) people for occupying part of grant park. About 40 tents were pitched around 9 pm and the police surrounded the park soon after. The arrests were handled very orderly and ALL of the protesters were non-violent. Each individual was told they were free to leave at anytime, but most of them opted to be arrested. The voice you primarily hear was T who was live streaming most of the night. Update: After reading through the comments, I would suggest everyone read up on how financial institutions function before mud-slinging at one another over trivial issues. We shall take the current economic debacle in Europe as an example. “Look at the term “Credit Default Swap”. The name for this transaction is appropriate. One institution “swaps” (trades) the “default” (bankruptcy) risk on a “credit” (bond) with another institution. In regular investor terms, the process is much like buying a speculative stock. For example, let’s say you want to buy some stock in ABC Mining because you’re hoping that their new mine is going to be huge. However, if the mine doesn’t pan out, you fear that ABC is going to zero. So, you hedge your bet. You buy 100 shares of ABC Mining at /share but you also buy a put option on the stock. If the ABC mine is a dud and the stock goes to zero, you’re out your 00 in stock but at least your put option …

Recorded October 30, 2011, 5pm. Dr. Angela Davis addresses the satellite Occupy Wall Street general assembly–Occupy Washington Square Park NYC–encouraging the movement to stay united (3:20) by quoting Audre Lorde, “Differences must not be merely tolerated, but seen as a fund of necessary polarities between which our creativity can spark like a dialectic” (4:24). At the end of the speech, Davis brings news from Occupy Oakland–in regards to the police action, and Scott Olsen –and Oakland’s call for a general strike on November 2, 2011 (6:14). “Decolonize Oakland, We are the 99%, We Stand United, November 2nd, 2011, General Strike, No work, No School, Occupy Everywhere.” NOTE: The crowd repeats–or attempts to repeat–the words of the speaker for the benefit of those located in the rear of the crowd who may have difficulty hearing what the speaker is saying. Why not use microphones, or megaphones, you say? In NYC, a sound permit is required in order to use these devices in public, and the police may, or may not grant the permit. NY ADC.
