i don’t need one of those scam sites that ask for money for information. i am trying out where the available grants are, what the requirements are, and how to apply.

Is this for education? Start with the Financial Aid office of the university you wish to attend.
Go to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ they have great information about pell grants and stafford loan, as well as good links with information. Good luck!
