What college do you go to?
    Make sure it’s accredited!
Collegeboard.com will show you a list of colleges in your area, all accredited.

FAFSA.ED.GOV is where you can do FAFSA, if you haven’t already.
FAFSA4CASTER.ED.GOV and STUDENTAID.ED.GOV are two sites you also might want to check out.

Basically, your best bet is Federal Financial Aid, local financial aid (your church, your work, etc.), or financial aid from your college.

There are no grants for single mothers (or single parents in general). You will need to fill out a fafsa application (which I’m sure that you’ve already done). You can purchase a computer and other school supplies with refund money, but you can also use computers at a friends’ house, the college library, or a public library if you cannot afford one. All of my financial aid grants go towards tuition, and some loan money goes towards tuition as well. I’m trying to keep my student loans as low as possible, so I never take a refund. I purchase my books from discount websites and just pay with money I’ve earned, the same goes with college expenses. Sometimes money is tight, but I just look for the best prices before I purchase. Right before school starts in August, there are amazing sales on computers and all school supplies – stock up for the year then. Look for good sales on used computers as well. My school sells a portion of it’s computers every two years for a cheap price and I was able to get one last year (and it works wonderfully!). Unfortunately all of the grants for “single moms” seen on the internet are scams.
