How long does it take to receive Pell Grants.?

Can you answer Kimberly Trishelle’s question?:
I’m in the application process for Pell Grants. Once I get approved, how long does it take to receive the money. And does the school get the money or does it get sent to me. And last but not least. Say I have a pell grant for 00 for one semester, and school only cost me say 00 that semester. Would I receive the rest of that money to spend on other things? (like a much needed laptop)
